When Patrick Costello, the principal lawyer of Vectis Law Group, opened his new practice in April 2010.he faced a difficult decision As a new firm, the bottom line was his ultimate consideration. But at the same time, he had to have the professional image and administrative support needed to run his business properly.
When looking into the options, the vast majority of leases had one- to two-year commitments. It is difficult to anticipate expenses in the first two years of a new business. There had to be another option.
Costello was familiar with the executive suite concept and came across it again when he researched Palo Alto office space. Executive suites, or shared office spaces, are a more flexible option – which made them a perfect fit for the new Vectis Law Group offices.
“Going with a shared office space is clearly the way to go for professionals, or any type of services firm,” said Costello, “Having a lower threshold cost is important.”
With a lower initial cost, Costello was able to open his practice without fearing a long term commitment with office space. Going with a Pacific Business Center office also helped Costello to hit the ground running with his practice.
“Using PBC has minimized the hassle of dealing with extra administrative expenses. It’s all rolled up into one low monthly rent price. Everything is set up for Internet, you’ve got a receptionist – it’s all plug and play. You can pop in and get the job done, and then you’re ready to go,” he explained.
Overall, working in the Palo Alto executive suites has made a significant difference in the way that Vectis Law Group is able to operate.
“I cannot overemphasize the significance that short term commitment makes,” he stated, “While the convenience may lead people to stay for the long term, the fact that you don’t have to sign a year or multi-year lease is critical in the start up period. This is huge when you are personally responsible for all the commitments of the business.”
Putting a premium on flexibility and low costs is easy when you used shared office space. Find out more about our shared office options in your area.
