Our ‘Meet the Team’ series continues with Scott Chambers, our Chief Operating Officer. Scott has been in the shared workspace business for over 20 years and has served as President of the Global Workspace Association, our industry’s trade association.

Keep reading to see how co-founding Pacific Workplaces was all due to a ‘chance encounter’ Scott had at a workspace conference several years ago.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area as the youngest of five children and only one adopted.  My grammar and middle school years were spent on a 360-acre working ranch in Half Moon Bay, CA.  We had horses, pigs, goats, chickens, and rabbits and grew barley on the open acreage. When I began high school, my parents moved back over the hill to Palo Alto where I attended Paly High and graduated in 1984.  I obtained a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Business Administration from the University of the Pacific.

How did you come to join Pac?
I met our CEO Laurent Dhollande at a (GWA) Global Workspace Association Conference in 2001, right after 9/11.  We got to know each other over the next year and a half and in May of 2003, decided to ‘go-in’ on a shared workspace location (back then they were called business centers).  We then merged the two original centers I had into one company and ‘Pac’ was formed.

What is your favorite part of working at Pac?
I truly enjoy the amazing Pacmates that I work with. We have such a special group of people – some that are new, some that have been together for many years, but you can tell each and every day that we truly care about each other. “We Care” is our company core value, and we always try to instill this message to the rest of our Pacmates, particularly during our regular team building events.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?
Spending time with my amazing wife and two daughters is how I enjoy my time outside the office. Traveling to warm weather destinations like Maui and Cabo where I can spend time by the pool is my idea of a great vacation. Sailing, scuba diving and snorkeling, in warm weather of course, are outdoor activities I enjoy.  In addition, I like to attend Bay Area sporting events as an avid Giants, 49ers and Warriors fan.

In what ways does your personal style or passions converge with your profession?
At work I’m required to be fairly detailed oriented in my day to day responsibilities, thus in my personal life I end up doing the same.

Are there any rules of life you like to live by?
Be honest, be on-time and always bring a great attitude.
