PayPal has an iPhone app that makes it easy to transfer money between the site and bank accounts with a cell phone. It also has a photo deposit feature, allowing users to send a picture of a check through the site and get it deposited in seconds. The app is free.

5. Square: When you want to take payments remotely, this app can make it happen. There are no monthly fees and it is not required to have a merchant account. The payments are available within minutes of the download. Every Square user is sent a Square credit card reader for free. The reader attaches to the phone and makes it possible to immediately accept Discover, Visa, American Express and MasterCard through the reader. The app is free and there are no fees charged by Square.
